Canoe, Kayak and SUP on the Thames

Jan 2024 Update : Adult section open for new members

For general information about membership email secretary.ockc@gmail.com

Oxford Canoe and Kayak Club is situated directly on the Thames, at Donnington Bridge, Oxford. The club comprises a youth and adult section that meet weekly from April to October. We have a fleet of around 60 closed cockpit kayaks, open canoes and stand up paddleboards, and have access to sea kayaks, sit-on-top kayaks, and more canoes owned by the Riverside Centre.

We were originally formed as Riverside Centre Canoe Club and were part of Oxford County Council youth service until, in April 2011, we separated and became the Oxford Canoe and Kayak Club, run entirely by volunteers. The club remains affiliated to Riverside and retains its historical focus on providing paddling opportunities and coaching for young people, whilst running a thriving adult group.

We welcome enquiries from all age groups, and skill levels. We invite potential members – youth or adult – to get in touch, discuss your objectives, and then set a date to come along for a paddle to meet other members and get a better idea of what we do. For more information email secretary.ockc@gmail.com

Through the Winter months we run separate youth and adult swimming pool sessions to practice skills and learn to roll effectively. The ideal place to learn to capsize safely

The youth group paddles on a Wednesday evening from 18:00 plus some weekend trips. The Adult group paddles every Thursday evening from 18:00, and most weekends through the Summer months.

We also run trips to the local rivers, white water centres and the coast. Additionally some bush craft and camping weekends.
